By investigating the topics that interest you and then using tools like close reading, note-taking, and essay writing, you’ll begin to develop these skills. It is common that most people have encountered one or many languages that hold a certain allure for them, and which they desire to gain proficiency in. NC provides a range of articles to help support this journey and to help our readers stay inspired. Learning a new language is fundamentally learning a new method of communication, but the process of learning provides so many other benefits. By learning a new language, you’ll develop discipline, explore new ways of thinking, and be opened up a to an entirely new culture, along with that cultures perspective on the world, its thinkers, and its history. The initial desire to learn a language can be motivated by the prospect of being able to communicate fluently in another language, but it can also be motivated by the other exciting things that language acquisition can open you up to like new literature, ideas, and work or travel opportunities.

Developing a steady study routine is great for anyone who considers themselves a life long learner or for anyone who wants to become one! The time set aside to study each week will look different for different people. Some will have the time and energy to study every day for an hour or two, and others may have only a few spare hours throughout the week or on the weekend. Whatever you schedule looks like, always try to factor in some time to explore a new interest, to work on that language you’ve been learning, or to work on research that is meaningful to you. Over time, these study sessions will add up and help you to gain expertise, to develop a skill, or simply help you to remain perpetually curious.
